Session 1 – October 7, 2017, 12-2 PM: How to Eat Vegan
What exactly is vegan food? What vegan food have you already been eating? What foods are not vegan? What are meat, dairy and egg substitutes? How do you deal with cravings? What about social pressure? We’ll prepare some really delicious vegan dishes, including non-dairy cheeses, comfort foods and breakfast dishes for sampling. We’ll also provide recipes to take home.

Session 2 – Saturday, October 14, 2017, 12-2 PM: Video: Milton Mills, MD: Are Humans Designed to Eat Meat?

Session 3 – Saturday, October 21, 2017, 4:30-7 PM: What the Health Screening & Q&A w/ Dr. Ruby Lathon
Bring a Friend to Watch “What the Health” CHALLENGE! We’re asking that all our participants bring as many friends, family members & co-workers to come out and watch this ground-breaking film that’s changing so many lives! After the film, Dr. Ruby Lathon, a holistic health and wellness expert and advocate for plant-based nutrition, will answer your questions on how to improve you health with a plant based diet. There will be delicious food, door prizes and lots of giveaways at this event!

Session 4 – Saturday, October 28, 2017, 12-2 PM: The Benefits of Vegan Living w/ Brenda Sanders
How does vegan living address the health challenges our communities are facing? What are the environmental impacts of the current food systems? What is the positive impact of creating a plant-based food system?

Session 5 – Sunday, October 29, 2017, 12-2 PM: Nutrition and the Human Body w/ Dr. Milton Mills
What are the healthiest foods to eat? Join Dr. Milton Mills from the film What the Health as he takes a deeper look at the components of a healthy plant-based diet as well as human physiology and why we are natural plant-eaters. There will also be a Q & A session with Dr. Mills.

Session 6 – Saturday, November 4, 2017, 12-2 PM: Grand Finale!
Now What? What will it look like going into the world as a new vegan? We’ll give lots of tips and tricks to navigating a non-vegan world as a brand-new vegan and discuss strategies for sharing what you’ve learned with your friends, family and community.
Party Time! – We’ll throw you a party with lots of delicious vegan food & drinks to celebrate your completion of the Jumpstart. There will be free vegan merchandise giveaways, activities for kids and more!

Thrive Baltimore is a dynamic event space located at 6 East Lafayette Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21202. Street parking is available as well as 2 paid lots within one block of the building. Buses: 51, 95, 103, City Link Green, and City Link Silver. Use the Charles Street and North Avenue stop. Trains: Thrive Baltimore is located 2 blocks from Penn Station.
